Peewees capture 2nd title in two weeks!

Go a perfect 5 - 0 to win Welland Tournament title

The Welland Performance Acura Peewee Mustangs captured their second title in as many weeks, going a perfect 5 - 0 at a tournament hosted by Welland Minor Baseball over the weekend.

In pool play, Welland defeated Guelph, Woodley & West London to capture the #1 seed in their pool.  Sunday morning's semi-final saw a pitcher's duel against Niagara Falls.  Jacob Millar was a stud on the mound, throwing 6 innings and only giving up one run.  Colter Naphin sealed the victory with a walk-off hit in the bottom of the 7th with the bases loaded, giving the Mustangs a 3 - 2 win.

After falling behind 3 - 0 in the final to Woodslee, Welland kept the pressure on their opponent.  They battled back to tie it twice, once on a pinch-hit single by Hayden Cupolo.  The pitching of Kaden Falardeau and Lucas Ponting quieted the Woodslee bats until the Mustang offence found their stride in the 6th, scoring 5 runs.  The Mustangs captured the tournament title with an 8 - 4 victory.
