The Performance Acura Peewee Mustangs headed into the Final of the Simcoe Tournament with a perfect 5 - 0 record but lost a heartbreaker in the bottom of the 7th with two outs.

Welland defeated Brantford 21 - 2 on Friday night before handing losses to Pelham 7 - 2 & Guelph 6 - 3 on Saturday.  They closed out the round robin portion of the tournament with a 5 - 4 victory over Royal York.

In the semis, Welland defeated Waterloo by a margin of 6 - 1 to advance to face Guelph in the final.  The Mustangs jumped out to an early lead, which they surrendered, but fought back with 2 runs in the sixth to tie the game.  Unfortunately, Guelph scored a run in the bottom of the seventh with 2 outs to capture the championship 10 - 9.

What a great weekend of ball for the boys, who are now 14 - 2 in tournament play.

Players of the game from the weekend were: Gage Cullen (2), Lucas Ponting, Jacob Millar & Kaden Falardeau.
